The California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA), the state’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, today launched a statewide #CAIR2Vote Muslim voter engagement campaign – at www.muslims.vote/ca  – to promote civic engagement, voter registration, and voter education programs.

This campaign aims to help voters navigate the ballot this upcoming election with voter guides, articles, special reports, and other tools. In the coming weeks, CAIR-CA will also publish the voting records of the California legislators on issues relating to Islamophobia, voting rights, and freedom of speech.
CAIR-CA’s civic engagement efforts include hosting several Candidates’ Forums where constituents get the chance to meet with elected officials and candidates running for local office, and dozens of voter registration drives across California since the Primary elections.
“This is an especially important time to be civically engaged. With Islamophobic incidents on the rise and hate speech being spewed from presidential candidates throughout the elections cycle, it is crucial for the Muslim voice to be heard,” says Sameena Usman, Government Relations Coordinator at CAIR-SFBA. “The #CAIR2Vote campaign offers our community and coalition partners the information and resources they need to make informed decisions and vote.”
Visitors to www.Muslims.Vote can to register to vote, update their voter registration status, and view CAIR-California’s state legislative scorecards. You can also text “CAIR2VOTE” at 714-248-0999 to receive your voter guide, reminders and deadlines for the election. Individuals are also encouraged to join the campaign on social media by using the hashtag #CAIR2Vote.
