Report Hate Crimes Immediately

Use Caution

Due to the recent rise in hate crimes targeting Muslim Americans, CAIR-SFBA is calling on Muslims, as well as mosques, to be vigilant and report any incidents of abuse or violence to local law enforcement and CAIR-SFBA.

If you feel you have been a victim of anti-Muslim discrimination or a hate crime, please contact CAIR-SFBA’s Civil Rights Department. Call 408.986.9874 or email us at info@sfba.cair.com.

We are currently seeing a rise in Islamophobic propaganda by anti-Muslim groups, media personalities, elected officials, and political hopefuls. CAIR-SFBA notes that there is usually an increase in attacks against Muslims when such anti-Muslim rhetoric dominates national attention.

This past week has seen a series of hate crimes committed against Muslims across the country. Specific incidents include:

  • A taxicab driver in New York City being stabbed multiple times after being asked if he was a Muslim
  • A mosque in Madera, CA being vandalized with signs left expressing Islamophobic bigotry and, in a separate incident, a rock being smashed through their window
  • A Muslim Charity has been getting threatening phone calls
  • A mosque construction site being targeted by arsonists in Murfreesboro, TN

The law protects all of our communities, regardless of race, religion or national origin. If you feel you are the victim of a crime, please contact law enforcement immediately. If you feel that the crime committed against you or your property was motivated by hate or bigotry against your race, religion or national origin, please contact CAIR-SFBA for help.
