Join us for the third MDAC political education session of the week!
We are hosting a webinar to discuss the importance and necessity of the California Commission on Human Rights, through AB 412.
The bill, drafted by which would create an advisory commission to oversee and report on the status of human rights across California. Where issues or concerns of human rights violations are occurring, the Commission would provide recommendations and solutions to legislature and necessary departments to mitigate those human rights abuses.
Protecting and uplifting human rights for all is foundational for a just and equitable society. Currently, there is no entity in the State of California, whose sole objective is to review and recommend policy changes on the grounds of protecting human rights for Californians. This means that several populations and issues slip through the cracks of the number of siloed entities in the state.
Considering the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the increase of hate crimes, and a growing recognition of systemic discrimination, a Commission is genuinely needed to ensure all Californians and their rights are under constant consideration by community members and experts.
