Asif Harsolia, M.D.

President

Asif R. Harsolia, M.D. has been an active member of the Muslim community previously serving in leadership and volunteer positions in a number of different non-profit organizations. He is a board-certified cancer specialist in Radiation Oncology. Originally from Michigan, Dr. Harsolia obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Michigan Medical School. Following this, he successfully completed his residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan where he had the privilege of training with some of the world's top specialists in the field of radiation oncology. He is a practicing partner with the Memorial Radiation Oncology Medical Group in Orange County and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, Irvine.Clinical Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, Irvine.

Fawad Shaiq : Vice President

Vice President

Fawad Shaiq has been an active member of the Southern California Muslim community for 10 years in various capacities including leading a masjid youth group and helping to run a social services organization.  He is also quite active working for issues of social justice in Los Angeles. He holds degrees from UC San Diego and UCLA and works in construction management.

Yasir Mahar : Secretary

Yasir Mahar is an Assistant Fund Controller for a financial services firm. Being in the field for almost ten years, his areas of expertise include accounting, finance, and business process improvement. He loves playing basketball and reading.

Hafez M. Hafez : Treasurer

Hafez M. Hafez has practiced auto engineering for more than 26 years. His area of expertise is product development and Management. He frequently gives Friday khutba and teaches Islamic classes to the new Muslims. He is currently serving with the Islamic Shura Counsel Majlis representing CAIR. Hafez is grandfather for 5 children and enjoy coaching soccer.

Roohe Ahmed : Member

Roohe Ahmed is a registered dietitian working for a major healthcare organization, as well as a nutrition instructor at a local college. She holds her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Master’s degree in public health, specializing in nutrition from Loma Linda University. She is active in the Muslim community, serving on various boards and committees. 

Shamel Abd-Allah, M.D. : Member

Dr. Shamel Abd-Allah is a pediatrician in Loma Linda, California. He is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Loma Linda University Medical Center and White Memorial Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and has been in practice for 25 years. He is one of 53 doctors at Loma Linda University Medical Center and one of 35 at White Memorial Medical Center who specialize in Pediatrics.

Hussam Ayloush is the Executive Director and has been since 1998. He frequently lectures on Islam, media relations, civil rights, hate crimes and international affairs pertaining to American Muslims. He has consistently appeared in local, national, and international media advocating and articulating the mainstream Muslim position on various issues.

Omar Hassaine : Chair

Chair

Omar Hassaine is a co-founder of the CAIR-San Diego office, which he helped launch in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks. He is a proud husband and father of three children. Omar is a computer engineer by profession and has been active in the Muslim community for more than 35 years. Omar served as president of the board of trustees of the Islamic Society of Illinois in the late 1980s, and a board member of the Bosnia Task force in the 1990s.

Haitham Abul-Haija : Vice Chair

Haitham Abul-Haija has been with the Sacramento Muslim community for more than 18 years. Throughout that time, he has served multiple terms on the executive committee at the local mosque. Previously, he served on the board of American Muslims for Palestine's Sacramento chapter. In addition to serving on the CAIR-CA board, he also serves on the executive committee of CAIR-Sacramento Valley. In his profession, he directs a team of engineers to meet schedule, standards, and cost in developing leading-edge platform technologies for both mobile and desktop chipsets at Intel Corporation.

Salman Razi, M.D. : Secretary

Salman Razi received his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and then went on to complete his urology residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He currently has his own private practice with offices in Tracy and Manteca. He is active in serving his local Muslim community and is currently a member of the board of trustees at the Tracy Islamic Center. He also serves on several other medical/health care related committees.

Eyas Abdeen : Treasurer

Eyas Abdeen is a business professional with over 12 years of experience in the financial sector and six years in the software and web programming industry. Currently, he is an investment and corporate finance consultant. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer to a large healthcare organization. He previously worked as an investment risk analyst, project manager, and a software engineer. Additionally, he worked as a consultant for over five years as he mentored both rookie and savvy investors to leverage market movement to build their investment portfolio. He has been an active member of the Sacramento community for over two decades. Since 2011, he has been serving on the Al-Arqam Islamic School board of trustees as the CFO. Eyas holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master of Science in Finance with emphasis in investment management. Currently, he is working on a Doctor of Business Administration at Golden Gate University, with emphasis on finance and investment risk management. In his spare time he enjoys hobbies are reading, tennis and cycling.

Fahad Ahmad serves on the CAIR-San Diego executive committee and the CAIR-CA board. He identifies most closely with CAIR's mission of promoting social justice and mutual dialogue to better represent Islamic values in the U.S. He has been a resident of San Diego for almost 15 years. His professional experience include management of internet and software related products. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of California, Irvine, and a Bachelor of Science degree from University of California, Los Angeles.

Imam Mohamed Taha Hassane : Member

Imam Mohamed Taha Hassane is currently serving as the Imam and Director of the Islamic Center of San Diego (ICSD). He joined ICSD in September 2004 from the Colorado Muslim Youth Foundation where he served as a youth instructor. Imam Taha graduated from the Institute of Islamic Sciences at the University of Algiers, in Algeria, and served as a high school teacher and Imam in Ténès, Algeria for 10 years before coming to the United States. Imam Taha also holds a Master degree of Theology in Islamic studies from the Graduate Theological Foundation in South Bend, Indiana. In addition to his regular duties at ICSD, Imam Taha is actively involved in many interfaith organizations.

Sabir Ibrahim, Esq. : Member

Sabir Ibrahim is an attorney who specializes in intellectual property. He has advised some of the most prominent technology companies in Silicon Valley on issues related to technology licensing, patent procurement, patent litigation, and intellectual property strategy. Currently, he is an in-house corporate counsel at a Fortune 50 technology company where he structures and negotiates strategic partnerships and technology license and acquisition agreements. Mr. Ibrahim has a BSE in computer science and a JD, both from the University of Michigan. He is licensed to practice law in the State of California. Mr. Ibrahim lives in Fremont, CA with his wife and son and is an active member of the Bay Area Muslim community.

Omar Milbis : Member

Omar began as a volunteer for CAIR-LA while in attending college in 1998. After completing his bachelor’s in Economics from CSU Long Beach, Omar went to work in the grocery industry and currently serves as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Rio Ranch Markets. Omar also serves on the board of the California Grocers Association and sits on their Government Relations and Finance Committees. He resides in Rancho Cucamonga with his wife and three children.

Spojmie Nasiri is a first generation immigrant herself who understands through personal experience how difficult and emotionally draining American immigration process can be. Mrs. Nasiri’s education, community involvement and associations reflect her outstanding dedication in the area of immigration law. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis and her Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University, School of Law. Mrs. Nasiri is a member of the California State Bar and is admitted to practice before the California Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Mrs. Nasiri currently practices immigration law exclusively and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
