AB 1196 will ban the use of carotid artery restraint (chokehold) by law enforcement officers to forcibly detain a suspect in California. This deadly tactic has ended multiple lives, including George Floyd, Elijah McClain, and Eric Garner.

The bill is currently in the California State Senate’s Rules Committee and we need you to contact these Senators to urge them to VOTE YES at the next Senate hearing.
