Schedule Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location: Office located in Anaheim, CA. It requires some travel throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area.
The Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for community outreach, volunteer engagement, and event planning.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Islamic centers, MSAs, youth groups and others to advance CAIR-LA’s work
- Coordinate a comprehensive mosque outreach plan including seasonal development campaigns such as Ramadan, Friday prayer, and banquet
- Develop and maintain relationships with mosques to increase and expand outreach efforts
- Coordinate Volunteer Program and establish CAIR Mosque Coordinator program, including identifying and engaging volunteers, establishing lists of projects and volunteer activities, supervise and/or assign volunteers to staff, provide support and training to volunteers, and maintaining volunteer database
- Develop partnerships with Muslim organizations, civil rights non-profits, and other organizations to increase outreach
- Attend relevant organizations’ events usually at night/weekends – activities and meetings as needed (community partners, college campuses, nonprofits, mosques, etc.)
- Assist in the promotion and delivery of CAIR-LA programs for various departments (legal, development, advocacy, communications, etc.) including banquets, public education programs, interactive workshops, training sessions and forums
- Help organize events as needed: securing a venue, food, audiovisual, travel arrangements, and other event-related matters
- Maintain an annual events calendar and events timeline
- Maintain, replenish and distribute marketing and educational material and provide up-to-date inventory tracking
- This position will require some night and weekend commitment
- Other relevant tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high degree of professionalism
- Self-directed individual, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing initiatives
- Experience conducting outreach and working with volunteers
- Familiarity, knowledge and experience working with the American Muslim community
- Work experience with a non-profit organization or in a related field
- Willingness and flexibility to change job requirements as the team grows
