Hatefas Yop is a Community Organizer at CAIR-LA. She brings a diverse experience to the CAIR-LA office, having been an organizer among the Southeast Asian refugee community. She identifies as a daughter of Cham Muslim refugees. In her previous role as an organizer at the Cambodian Family Community Center, Hatefas trained local community members from the Cambodian diaspora to be civically engaged through a culturally appropriate leadership curriculum.
In 2019 she joined the California Higher Education Student Summit on behalf of California State University Long Beach (CSULB), where she attended meetings with state legislatures to discuss matters such as tuition increase, student homelessness, and establishing Ethnic Studies as a California State University graduation requirement.
Hatefas has earned her Associate of Arts in Ethnic Studies from Santa Ana College and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Long Beach in Asian American Studies.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, volunteering, and crafting on her Circuit machine.
