Sumiyah Mshaka is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who grew up in Inglewood and the Pasadena area. Sumiyah is part of a distinguished family of social justice advocates. Sumiyah has volunteered as a member of the CAIR L.A. Governance Board since 2016.
For the past sixteen years, Sumiyah has been an LA County employee, specializing in providing mental health treatment and advocacy to children in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. Sumiyah holds a Master’s degree in Social Welfare from UCLA and a B.A. in Sociology, Social Work option from California St. Polytechnic University, Pomona. In her spare time, Sumiyah enjoys exercising and staying active in her community.
