(LOS ANGELES, CA – 8/7/2020) – The California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA) is hosting a virtual political education and leadership building program for Muslim high school students from August 8 to August 9.
The program, called Muslim Youth Leadership Intensive (MYLI), is designed to equip Muslim high school students with the necessary skills to establish and execute organizing projects that empower their communities. More than 40 of the top applicants from around California will be trained on how to make a real impact in their communities.

This virtual program is taking the place of the annual Muslim Youth Leadership Program (MYLP), held at the State Capitol in Sacramento, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. CAIR-CA is aiming to provide as thorough and rewarding of a program as previous years.
Basim Elkarra, Chair of the Muslim Youth Leadership Intensive said in a statement:
“This is a change from our usual annual program but we are excited to host students from all around California through this virtual event where we will train the attendees to be civically engaged organizers and leaders.”
