(LOS ANGELES, CA – 12/7/2021) – The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today demanded that the Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) office address Islamophobic discrimination and sexual harassment that was substantiated by a third-party investigator.
The investigation found that a former senior assistant district attorney, Gary Logalbo, made Islamophobic comments to a Muslim deputy district attorney, including asking whether her father was a terrorist, and called a Muslim public defender a “terrorist.” Logalbo also allegedly engaged in a troubling pattern of sexual harassment of multiple female employees.

In a statement, CAIR-LA Civil Rights Managing Attorney Amr Shabaik said:
“Given the findings in the independent investigation and the seriousness of the allegations presented in recently filed lawsuits, the Orange County Board of Supervisors should move swiftly to resolve the matter and make sure that victims of Logalbo’s discrimination and harassment are made whole.
“There is no room for Islamophobia, sexual harassment, or any type of discrimination in any place of employment, let alone a public official’s office.
“The Orange County District Attorney’s office and the Orange County Board of Supervisors must act quickly to ensure that no such incidents occur in the future and that past incidents are appropriately remedied. It is imperative that the OCDA establish a zero-tolerance policy and culture for racial discrimination and harassment to protect employees from any such behavior in the future.”
