(LOS ANGELES, CA – 8/8/2023) – The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA), along with Afghan American Muslim Outreach, Institute of Knowledge, Qazizada Multicultural Therapy Clinic, and the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, today welcomed a proclamation from the County of Orange, Calif., recognizing August as Muslim American Appreciation Month.
The proclamation, which recognizes the invaluable contributions of American Muslims to the county, was introduced by O.C. Board Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento and supported by Supervisors Doug Chaffee, Donald Wagner, and Katrina Foley.
In a statement, CAIR-LA Policy Manager Basha Jamil said:
“This proclamation represents a heartfelt acknowledgment of the countless contributions made by American Muslims to the growth, prosperity, and unity of Orange County and highlights its commitment to fostering a society built on understanding, cooperation, and compassion. By recognizing Muslim American Appreciation Month, Orange County is not only celebrating our past achievements but also paving the way for a future of continued collaboration and progress.

Orange County joins the cities of Anaheim and Los Angeles in recognizing Muslim American Appreciation Month.
