(LOS ANGELES, CA – 10/21/2019) – The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today expressed solidarity with the Jewish community today after anti-Semitic neo-Nazi graffiti was found on a sign in front of a law firm.

According to the Desert Sun newspaper, a large black Nazi swastika was scrawled with a crayon on a sign outside the office of attorney Robert Weinstein. Weinstein reported the graffiti at 11:53 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.

“I’m especially affected by it because they know I’m Jewish, with a name like that, and they know I’m in this building ’cause my name’s on the building,” Weinstein told the Desert Sun. “My family survived the Holocaust so we’re very sensitive to those kind of hate signs.”

Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.

In a statement, CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said:

“We condemn this display of racism and anti-Semitism. We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and continue to defy the senseless actions of bigots who violate our country’s long-standing principles of religious tolerance and inclusion. We urge law enforcement authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and commend law enforcement for investigating this as a possible hate crime. Californians of all backgrounds must stand together in the face of growing hatred and division in our state and nation.”
