(LOS ANGELES, CA – 9/20/2019) – The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) expressed solidarity with the Jewish community today after anti-Semitic graffiti was found on a sign at a Northridge synagogue earlier this week.
Police received a vandalism complaint Wednesday morning from the Temple Ahavat Shalom, where the message “6 million $ was not enough” was scrawled on a sign outside the temple, according to the website for KFI 640 radio.
The graffiti appeared to reference the six million Jewish people killed during World War II by Nazis in an attempted genocide.
The Los Angeles Police Department did not know exactly when the vandalism occurred. The department is actively investigating the incident as a hate crime, according to the L.A. Daily News.

In a statement, CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said:
“We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and continue to defy the senseless actions of bigots who violate our country’s long-standing principles of religious tolerance and inclusion. Hatred and harassment at houses of worship is a serious and growing problem. As we have stated many times, an attack on any house of worship is an attack on all our houses of worship. We continue to stand and defend our fellow community members in the face of xenophobia and bigotry.”
