Dear CAIR-LA supporters,

After careful review of recent public health updates in our area regarding the coronavirus epidemic and hearing from community members, the CAIR-LA team has made the difficult decision to cancel CAIR-LA’s 5th Annual Valley Banquet, scheduled for Saturday, March 21.

As always, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our community, our volunteers, our service providers and our staff.

We want to be candid with you. This decision will bring a financial burden to our organization and immediate operations. We have an appeal regarding this below and hope you will support us to overcome this burden.

We have the confidence of doing the right thing – we have put the health of our community first. A gathering of potentially 450 people is a large group that we wanted to avoid in the current circumstances, in light of an appeal from Gov. Gavin Newsom to cancel or postpone events with 250 or more people in an effort to prevent coronavirus from spreading.

Please note the following important points:

1. CAIR-LA is offering to reimburse all banquet ticket purchasers. Please expect an email from our office in the next few days. The price of the ticket covers the cost of hosting the event. Our annual operations are funded by donors at the banquet and our sponsors. If you would like to donate your ticket purchases to support our work, please let us know.

2. As you know, one of the goals of the banquet is to raise funds to cover salaries, office expenses and operational costs for our work in the Valley and surrounding areas. Our annual banquets are an opportunity to recognize, celebrate and reflect on our work. It is also the time when we witness the generosity of our community. While we are not going to be able to present our work to you in person, we would like to appeal to all of our community members to support our work at:

We are grateful for your understanding and for your donations. We ask God Almighty to protect us all.

Hussam Ayloush
