This Black History Month, CAIR-LA is uplifting the voices of Black Muslims who have made an impact on our community. Donald Bakeer is best known for writing “South Central L.A. Crips,” a 1987 novel about the gang wars in L.A. that was turned into the Warner Bros. film “South Central” in 1992. We asked his daughter, Kenyatta Bakeer, who recently produced and acted in “Muslimah’s Guide To Marriage,” to sit down with her father and ask him about his journey to Islam.
