More than 60 students and a handful of adults attended a Youth Empowerment Workshop, hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) on Feb. 1 at Islamic Education Center of Orange County in Costa Mesa.

CAIR-LA Youth Organizer Mahreen Alam moderated the seminar, which featured question-and-answer exchanges between the moderators and students on a variety of topics.

“We had a great turnout at the Youth Empowerment Workshop,” Alam said. “Everyone was active and engaged throughout the entire evening. They were excited to learn practical and effective tools to make long-lasting positive change in their communities.”

The seminar is a series of workshops scheduled across the Southland this year. The next workshop is set for 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Chino Valley Islamic Center, 4711 Chino Ave, Chino, CA 91710. For more information, contact Mahreen Alam at malam@cair.com.
