The Muslim Vote
This year, Gaza is the most important issue affecting the Muslim community. Over 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and millions more are displaced—all while the U.S. continues to send weapons to Israel. Since Oct. 7, American Muslims have faced increased discrimination, bullying and doxing, police violence, and hate from Zionists and white supremacists.
American Muslims can’t afford to sit this election out—our vote is our voice and the best way to fight against oppression. We must vote to demand justice in a system that tries to silence us, ignore our values, and marginalize our community.
As we approach the 2024 General Election, we are on a mission to mobilize Muslim voters throughout California, because every Muslim vote is a step toward justice.
Issues at Stake
Genocide in Gaza
Perpetrated by Israel and heavily funded by the U.S., the genocide in Gaza has moved many Americans to call for an immediate ceasefire and arms embargo and demand an end to the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine.
Attacks on Civil Rights
The genocide in Gaza has revealed the U.S. governmentʼs failure to uphold democratic values, both domestically and internationally, as evident in the relentless attacks on the First Amendments rights of American Muslims and their allies.
Islamophobia & Hate
Advocating for Palestinian human rights has made many of our students, community members, and allies targets of Zionist and white supremacist violence. Since Oct. 7, CAIR-LA has handled over 400 civil rights cases, mostly involving anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hate.
Collective Wellbeing
Many Americans face issues such as a lack of affordable housing, low wages, under-representation, discrimination, police violence, and immigration challenges. On top of this, American Muslims are frequently and intentionally excluded from conversations about these shared concerns.
