All advisors are required to dedicate approximately 16 hours in preparation to MYLP by participating in on-line training, conducting weekly check-ins with attendees, and attending the Parent Student Orientation.

All advisors will be assigned a group of 3-4 students for the conference. A formal mentor-mentee relationship develops through the program and advisors are encouraged to maintain that relationship with the students even after the program ends.

Advisors will be responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for their students.

Contacting students prior to the conference to introduce themselves and answer any questions the students or their parents may have.
Offer support and suggestions to help students achieve their fundraising goal.
Brief the students about the schedule every day of the conference and encourage active participation.
Model behavior for the students during the conference.
Debrief with the students to collect feedback and offer support.
Serve as the contact person and liaison for their parents during the conference in case of an emergency.
Be aware of the location of your assigned 3-4 students throughout the conference.
Enforce the phone and sleeping policy with attendees.

In addition to supporting the students, advisors will be asked to assist with the conference’s logistics.

Tasks assigned include:
Tech equipment set-up and support during sessions
Take pictures throughout the program
Give a khatirah after prayer
Serve as a liaison for guest speakers
Track time and keep everyone on schedule
Facilitate small group discussions and activities
Support in facilitation of main workshops
Lead icebreaker activities throughout the day
Carry materials to and from the Capitol building
