(LOS ANGELES, CA – 4/22/2020) The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today condemned Donald Trump’s newly signed executive order suspending the entry of certain immigrants into the United States.

The order, which was signed late Wednesday, applies to those outside of the United States seeking permanent U.S. residence, with some exceptions.
The order is effective starting at 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 23, and would last for 60 days – if it is not extended.

CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said in a statement:
“It is typical that this irresponsible, failed president would use yet another executive order to expand his xenophobic and bigoted policies against immigrants. It is extremely disappointing that he would use an unprecedented pandemic as a backdrop to further divide and traumatize vulnerable communities of color.”
