(LOS ANGELES, CA – 9/27/2023) – The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today welcomed the investigation into a Moorpark High School teacher in Ventura County who was reportedly caught on camera making racist remarks to a food vendor.
In a video recording, the teacher is heard making racial and anti-immigrant comments to a food vendor outside a Santa Clarita gas station. The targeted individual said the alleged perpetrator was driving and pulled over to confront him about where his cart was set up.

Moorpark Unified School District (MUSD) officials released a statement announcing that the teacher has not returned to the campus and that they are launching a full investigation into the incident.
In a statement, CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said:
“We hold educators and those working in our schools to a high standard and expect them to foster safe environments that promote diversity and respect, inside and outside of the classroom. It is incredibly alarming to hear such bigoted sentiments coming from a teacher.
“We applaud the MUSD’s prompt response to this incident and welcome the ongoing investigation into the teacher to ensure that MUSD schools remain a welcoming place for all
The school district is providing counseling to any student who felt negatively impacted by the statements made in the video.
