“ACTION TRUMPS FEAR” at Muslim Day at the Capitol

Dear Friends and Community Members,

I am pleased to share that our largest civic engagement event of the year is upon us! It is none other than our sixth annual Muslim Day at the Capitol (MDAC), taking place on Monday, April 24th.

Since 9/11, the Muslim community has been subjected to countless civil rights violations.

The 2016 Presidential election highlighted the prevailing sentiment that the rights of the American Muslim community are under attack. The Trump administration is doubling down on policies that attack our civil rights. MDAC plans to disrupt that narrative this year with our theme "ACTION TRUMPS FEAR".

"Our America needs us to build a better future," said CAIR-SFBA Executive Director Zahra Billoo . "We have our work cut out for us, but we are ready. This is the time to roll up our sleeves and be courageous."

We hope California will set the standard for civil rights and civic engagement in the nation. Our advocacy during this annual program brings fruitful change and real results. For the past five years, many of the bills we have advocated for have been signed into law by the Governor. Last year, our work centered on protecting our students from bullying based on religious affiliation (AB 2845), due process within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (AB 2792), and addressing police accountability and transparency (SB 1286).

Will you join us for a full day of leadership trainings, advocacy, and empowerment? Students, families, and community members from throughout the state are encouraged to attend.

Zero advocacy experience? We provide in-person and online trainings.

Don't have a vehicle? We provide transportation from your region to the Capitol.

We will do our best to facilitate your participation at this key event.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to be a part of the legislative process. Help advocate for fair and just policies.

Register online at CAIR Capitol Day . We hope to see you this April in Sacramento!

Sincerely,

Yannina Casillas
