We Need You!

Join the Sacramento Valley chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and our coalition partners to demand justice, accountability and transparency from police at a hearing on AB 931, the Use of Force Bill, at the State Capitol at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 19.

AB 931 would limit the use of deadly force by a peace officer to those situations where it is necessary to prevent imminent and serious bodily injury or death to the officer or to a third party. On Tuesday, the bill will be heard at the Senate Committee on Public Safety. AB 931 is a step in the right direction to help us protect our communities and end police brutality.

In the wake of the Stephon Clark shooting, this is a prime opportunity to express solidarity, demand significant police reform and check the power of law enforcement.

Clark, an African-American Muslim from Sacramento, was shot and killed by law enforcement in March. Clark was the father of two young boys and, despite conflicting reports immediately following the incident, was later found to be unarmed.
