(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/8/19) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights organization, today called on all Americans to contact their representative in Congress to thank them for voting in favor of a resolution condemning Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, racism, and other forms of bigotry.

While the resolution was introduced in response to legitimate criticism of domestic support for the discriminatory and segregationist policies of a foreign government, CAIR applauds the bill’s text as a powerful and important condemnation of prejudice and intolerance of all types. H.Res. 183 is the first piece of legislation mentioning Islamophobia to pass either chamber of Congress and only the second to ever be introduced.
