The California chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA) is proud to announce the passage of AB 412 (Reyes) out of the Legislature making California only a signature away from the creation of the California Commission on Human Rights.
“The California Legislature’s commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights is illustrated through the recent passage of AB 412. We are incredibly excited about the potential this commission has for the people of California and eagerly await Governor Newsom’s signature” said Hussam Ayloush, CEO of California.
CAIR-CA has sponsored AB 412 (Reyes) alongside our partners at the Western Center on Law and Poverty (WLCP) and Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) over the course of the last year and are grateful for Majority Leader Reyes’s leadership in ensuring that California finally has an entity to focus solely on the protection of human rights.
