The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Sacramento Valley / Central California office (CAIR-SV/CC) commends the Sacramento Board of Supervisors for appropriating $5 million in support of Afghan refugees. This will be formally adopted on September 28.
Basim Elkarra, Executive Director of CAIR-SV/CC said in a statement:
“We commend the Board of Supervisors and especially Supervisor Phil Serna for the work on appropriating $5 million to support Afghan refugees in Sacramento County. The Sacramento region is home to one of the highest concentration of refugees in the nation, we must do everything possible to welcome and support refugees. With Afghan refugees coming to Sacramento in large numbers, these funds will help ensure they are supported and integrated into society.”
