Last weekend, residents and business owners reported finding packages filled with rice and flyers for the Loyal White Knights of the KKK hate group on their doorsteps, according to news reports.

Up to 20 of the packages were allegedly discovered across the Northern California town.

Police said no perpetrators have been identified in this incident or a similar distribution that occurred years prior, according to news reports. The perpetrator could be charged with offensive littering.

In a statement, CAIR-SV Executive Director Basim Elkarra said:

“We condemn the distribution of materials backing the KKK’s hate-filled agenda. We cannot remain silent in the face of bigotry, nor tolerate hate groups’ attempts to divide us. We applaud Mayor Henry Ebinger’s strong condemnation of the messages.”

Elkarra urged community members to report any bias incidents to law enforcement and to contact CAIR-SV’s Civil Rights Department at 916-441-6269 or by filing a report at bit.ly/cairsvcccivilrights.

CAIR-SV is an office of CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice and empower American Muslims. The SV office covers the Sacramento Valley region of California north to the Oregon border.
