The California Assembly recently adopted a resolution, ACR-233, introduced by Assembly members Eloise Gómez Reyes and Joaquin Arambula, that recognizes Ramadan. It is now with the Senate Rules Committee.

The measure, adopted by the Assembly on May 17, would “acknowledge the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and express the Legislature’s respect to Muslims across California and throughout the world on this occasion.”

In a big show of support, a total of 60 legislators voted “Aye.”

Legislators and attendees celebrated the resolution at Capitol Iftar on May 21.
