CAIR-Sacramento Valley has joined with several Northern California Islamic organizations and mosques to help victims of the Camp Fire in Butte County, California.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, CAIR-SV, Islamic Relief USA, the Council of Sacramento Valley Islamic Organizations, the Islamic Center of Yuba City, the Islamic Center of Live Oak, Muslim Community of Folsom, the Muslim Mosque Association, SALAM Center, Masjid Annur, Masjid As-Sabur, and the MAS Community and Youth Center started a LaunchGood fundraiser.

The fundraiser is geared toward raising funds to help the Islamic Center of Chico purchase cash cards to distribute to those affected by the monstrous blaze.

Supplies are distributed to Camp Fire victims at the Islamic Center of Chico on Monday.

The fundraiser raised more than $20,000 in less than 24 hours.

As of late afternoon on Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Camp Fire had killed at least 44 people and left more than 200 missing, according to CBS News. It had also burned at least 125,000 acres.

“We are heartbroken over the devastation caused by the Camp Fire – along with the other wildfires across California,” said CAIR-SV Executive Director Basim Elkarra. “So many people have lost everything and we want to do anything we can to help alleviate their pain.”
