(SACRAMENTO, CA, 8/12/19) – On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Kashmir Action Committee, Pakistan American Association of Sacramento (PAAS), American Muslim Voice (AMV), Pakistan American Sports and Cultural Organization (PASCO), Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), and the Sacramento Valley office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SV) will rally to “Stand with Kashmir.”

Last week, India revoked Kashmir’s special autonomous status and blocked modes of communication, heightening tensions in the area. Kashmir is a Muslim-majority region.

Rally organizer Javaid Akhtar, with the Kashmir Action Committee, said in a statement:

“With the entire Kashmir Valley under brutal military lockdown and curfew, a humanitarian crisis is unfolding. Communication with the outside world is cut off. It is a volcano about to erupt. The world needs to pay attention NOW.”
