Update on the 'Muslim Ban'

Dear community,

Since President Donald Trump signed Friday's executive order banning non-citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from traveling to the U.S., dozens of passengers arriving with non-immigrant visas as well as green cards have been detained at airports across the country, and in many cases sent back on flights after questioning. Hundreds of others have been barred from boarding flights to the U.S.

CAIR-SV 24 Hour Hotline: (916) 441-6269

Here's the latest on what's happening and what you can do:

  • Stay Vigilant and Informed: Read yesterday's email, detailing the ramifications of the Executive Order and advice from CAIR-SFBA and Advancing Justice-Asian Law Caucus to the community. Though a federal judge has issued an  emergency stay blocking the removal of all detained individuals with a valid visa or approved refugee application, enforcement has been inconsistent and multiple reports confirm that Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officers at some airports are not fully complying with the order.

  • Stay Engaged: Email us to be added as volunteer and enable us to hold more legal information sessions, immigration clinics and civic engagement workshops. And encourage your local masjid, community group, MSA or youth group book a workshop with CAIR, today. Follow us on social media to get updates on latest news and events happening around the Sacramento and Central Valley region.

Sincerely,

Basim Elkarra
