Attendees advocated for three CAIR-CA-sponsored bills that are crucial to our community. Yesterday, we welcomed the passage of one of those bills through the California State Senate.

The bill will now crossover to the California State Assembly, where it must pass through the chamber’s committees.

Stay tuned for more updates as we advocate for our bills to become law!

Meet our very special team member: Blessing Chiri Meet our very special team member:

Blessing Chirimbani is a Development Contractor at CAIR-SD. Her passion is rooted in serving the community, shaping her intense involvement with Model United Nations since 2014 as Secretary General & President. In college, Blessing worked on numerous civil rights projects with different nonprofits and has grown to understand that speaking on issues of marginalization is not enough without actions that bring about tangible change. She strongly believes that fighting for equity and equality is a way of life and not just a job or a hobby.
Despite making campaign promises to overturn inhum Despite making campaign promises to overturn inhumane policies and stop forced deportations that violate due process, the #Biden administration has instead decided to punish people fleeing for their lives and exercising their right to seek safety by implementing what is essentially an #asylumban.

The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that the #Bidenadministration has chosen to replace #Title42, a #Trump-era pandemic policy that blocked asylum-seekers from entering the country in the name of preserving public health, with one of the most inhumane asylum bans yet. The new policy would disqualify migrants from asylum eligibility if they did not seek asylum in the countries they passed through to get to the U.S. border. The ban also blocks reentry into the U.S. for five years and prosecutes immigrants attempting to seek safety in the U.S.

In light of #AAPIHeritageMonth, we wanted to intro In light of #AAPIHeritageMonth, we wanted to introduce Manzanar which was an internment camp established during World War II, where over 10,000 Japanese Americans were forcibly relocated and detained by the US government. The camp's purpose was to remove Japanese Americans from the West Coast, out of fear they would collaborate with Japan in the war. The internment was later recognized as a grave injustice, and survivors and their descendants continue to advocate for its remembrance and for the protection of civil liberties for all.
