Development and Event Planning Coordinator

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:

Development and Event Planning Coordinator (Part-time, or Full time)

 

The CAIR San Diego area is looking for a passionate and talented individual to fill the Development and Event Planning Coordinator position at its San Diego office.  Join one of the most dynamic teams defending civil rights on behalf of the American Muslim community and strengthening the image of Islam and American Muslims in the media. This position is to be filled immediately.

 

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Research and apply for potential funding opportunities, including private foundations and corporate giving programs
  • Track and submit grant reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising
  • Coordinate and draft fundraising mailers and online giving campaigns
  • Secure sponsorship and advertisements for annual banquet and special events/programs
  • Coordinate expansion of existing monthly donor program
  • Coordinate special events such as informational dinners
  • Implement and promote planned giving program
  • Coordinating stewardship efforts and corporate matching program
  • Creating and leading interactive workshops, training sessions, and forums
  • Creating engaging and interactive curriculum which fosters leadership and civic engagement among Muslim youth
  • Recruiting, managing and training youth leaders, coordinating Muslim Youth Leadership Program
  • Coordinating logistics for youth events (Entertainment Night- but don’t include)
  • Young professionals leadership development programs (training for imams, community leaders, others)
  • General admin and office work required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Business/Marketing or related field is preferred)
  • 2+ years of successful development experience in private or nonprofit sector
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines
  • Must have strong initiative and demonstrate the ability to learn in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision
  • Some experience writing corporate/foundation grant proposals
  • A record of measurable results in organizing and implementing initiatives involving: major gifts, online fundraising campaigns, annual funds, direct mail, and special events
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to creatively think and pitch CAIR’s work in a way that attracts donors and fits with grants
  • Experience in and strong commitment to serving the American Muslim community
  • Knowledge of CRM (preferred)
  • Ability to convey information in a professional and diplomatic manner. 
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks. 

 

Compensation:

  • Compensation commensurate with skills and experience
