As salaam alaykum,

I’m Mustafa Dustin Craun, the new Executive Director of CAIR San Diego, I recently moved down from the SF Bay Area to take
this position after 13 years of building Muslim institutions in the Oakland and Berkeley communities. I wanted to first thank the
200 of you on this list who have given over $1000 to help build CAIR San Diego over the years. It is an honor to be in this position and to serve this dynamic, and powerful community.
Over the next two years, our goal is to take this CAIR chapter to the next level through our Build & Defend Our Future Campaign. From this Ramadan until the end of Ramadan 2020 it is our goal to raise $1 million dollars with at least 50% of these funds
coming from our own community and the other part coming from foundation based grants.
As a part of this campaign, we are starting the CAIR San Diego Future Builders DonorClub for anyone who has given over $1000 dollars to CAIR during one year. The future builder’s donor club will get you access to exclusive CAIR events and speakers over
the coming year, and we hope you invite your friends.
Build & Defend Our Future Campaign

Beauty and pain, wealth and poverty, opportunity and oppression, these things all exist simultaneously in San Diego County. In the midst of all of this is the Muslim community facing these same realities, across 30 Mosques from North County to Tijuana. How do we realize the full power of our community at a local level, at a county level, and at a statewide level?
These are the questions we are asking as we develop our vision to build into 2020 and beyond. The core of our vision is that we must both build and defend our community and build as much power as possible across media, political, and cultural arenas.
For the last 25 years, CAIR California has defended the Muslim community across the state through legal and media based work. Today in San Diego we are building an innovation-oriented CAIR chapter focused on maintaining this legacy while also building
our future through growing Muslim community organizing across San Diego County, while also expanding our digital presence by storytelling and digital campaigns that empower our community.
May your Ramadan be blessed, and please let me know if you have any questions about our new vision,
you can email me directly at dcraun@cair.com
