#Ceasefire NOW! Here’s How You Can Take Action

November 17, 2023

Dear CAIR-SD Supporter,

CAIR San Diego unequivocally stands with the people of Gaza, advocates for an immediate #ceasefire, and demands urgent humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. To mobilize forces and increase impact, CAIR-SD has partnered with many like-minded organizations and formed the San Diego For Palestine Coalition. As a civil rights organization, CAIR-SD leads community meetings with elected officials at all levels and law enforcement agencies to demand equitable statements to support Arab, Muslim and Palestinian community members in San Diego. We also have been demanding our national representatives to sign on HR 786 demanding Cease fire now.

While there are thousands of individuals who are dying in Gaza everyday, the effect of this genocide is devastating statewide as well. In the wake of October 7th, our office has received over 25 reports of hate crimes and incidents. These complaints span from bullying and harassment on school campuses, harassment of Palestinian and Muslim owned businesses and employment discrimination cases across San Diego. Our community outreach and civil rights team have been conducting Anti-Bullying, Know Your Rights, and Advocacy workshops along with Teach Ins to prepare the community.

We support fellow organizations and activists who are peacefully demonstrating their support for Palestinians. During these melancholic times, CAIR San Diego will utilize our strength to advocate for social justice whether it is at a board meeting, on a legislative level, or on the streets. We are here to defend marginalized groups to ensure their civil rights are being fulfilled. However, to continue this work we need your help. Our goal is to raise $100,000 in order to increase our legal and civil rights department. We are counting on the San Diego community to aid us in our fight for social justice. As #GivingTuesday will be held on November 28th, we ask for your generous contribution, so we are properly equipped to take on the increase of cases happening in the community.

Here’s how you can participate in this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign:

– Make a Donation: Your generous financial support enables us to continue advocating for justice, defending civil liberties, and providing educational resources for our community. Click here to donate.

– Spread the Word: Help us amplify our message by sharing our Giving Tuesday campaign on social media platforms. By raising awareness, you’re not only supporting CAIR San Diego, but also helping to promote understanding and acceptance in our community. Follow and tag us on our various social media platforms @CAIRSanDiego (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).

– Volunteer: If you have time and skills to spare, consider joining our team of dedicated volunteers. Your efforts will directly contribute to the success of our programs and initiatives. Contact our office at (858) 278-4547 to inquire about volunteering.

– Attend our Events: Keep an eye out for upcoming events and workshops organized by CAIR San Diego. Your presence at these gatherings shows solidarity with our mission and helps foster a sense of community.

– Educate Yourself and Others: Take the time to learn about the issues facing the Muslim community and share that knowledge with others. Education is a powerful tool in dismantling stereotypes and fostering empathy. This #GivingTuesday, let’s come together to empower change, promote understanding, and work towards a more inclusive San Diego. Together, we can make a positive impact that ripples through our community and beyond.

In Solidarity,

Rabiah Almajid
