***CAIR-SFBA Vice President Spojmie Nasiri will be among the speakers at this rally.***

Join us on 6/30 11am–12:30pm at ICE’s Bay Area detention center, as protesters rally in D.C. and around the country, to tell the white supremacist-dominated US government: #FamiliesBelongTogether! We demand: LET OUR PEOPLE GO!

ABOUT OTHER OVERLAPPING EVENTS: A local activist created a longer event on MoveOn’s site (and on Facebook) and she suggested: “Bring diapers, baby blankets, kids books and toys,” but we do not recommend this. Children are NOT held at West County Detention, and items you leave behind might simply be thrown away by staff. Another group created a third Facebook event for its followers, with a different title, and it used to list the longer duration. So if you were planning to come after 12:30, please know that that’s actually the likely end time.

PARKING/TRANSIT ALERT: If you’re driving, please carpool if possible! Because we are expecting a large crowd, only park in the jail parking lot if you have accessibility issues, are visiting family there, or cannot afford the adjacent parking lot. Others, please pay $3 to park at the adjacent Point Pinole Regional Shoreline/Bay Trail parking lot at 5551 Giant Highway, and walk 0.4 miles (turn left) to West County Detention Facility (WCDF) next door. If you have mobility limitations, please either come early to park close by or have someone drive through to drop you in front of the front door protest area, then park further away. Another option: the 71 bus to WCDF leaves from Richmond BART every hour. **NOTE:** the sheriffs’ deputies won’t allow the usual access to the visitors’ waiting room bathrooms because of the expected large size of this action, but there are two wheelchair accessible bathrooms at Point Pinole.

This extra* Let Our People Go protest is being organized with the new energy of people from Solidarity Sundays added to the ongoing efforts of Kehilla Community Synagogue’s Immigration Committee and Congregation Beth El. For those with a practice of observing the sabbath on Saturdays, we hope you will join us if you are able. This protest is endorsed by Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, Contra Costa Immigrant Rights Alliance, Oakland Community Organizations, Alameda Labor Council, and the East Bay Democratic Socialists of America.

*Let Our People Go is usually held on 2nd Sundays, while IM4HI convenes at West County Detention on 1st Saturdays. Let Our People Go is a youth-and-elder-friendly, accessible action that opposes the detentions/deportations and mass incarceration with protest, music, art, testimonies and representation from different faith communities (including faithful and faithless humanists).

A grassroots effort, the regular monthly Let Our People Go protests are organized by volunteers from Kehilla’s Immigration Committee with ongoing participation from Congregation Beth El and other regular attendees to create a powerful community circle, a sustained message of resistance to the powers that lets detainees and their loved ones know that estamos en la lucha con ellos. **If your school, network, affinity group or congregation is interested in getting involved, contact us at letourpeoplego@kehillasynagogue.org.**

Let Our People Go is a space for our communities—especially those with citizenship privileges—to stand up for our peoples and bring more attention to this immoral site of internment right in our community. We aim to convey a sustained message of resistance to the right wing’s racist, xenophobic, anti-Muslim, ableist, transphobic, homophobic, misogynist ramp up of authoritarian policing, mass incarceration and deportation practices—if not now, when?
