Hauwa Abbas is the Development Coordinator for the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA). In this position, she will support donor relations, donation management, and fundraising efforts for the organization.
Hauwa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising, Management & Media with a minor in Public Relations from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. While there she held various leadership roles including Director of Outreach and Community Engagement for the Muslim Student Association and the Co-founder of The Halimah Project, a refugee mentorship program.
After graduating, she worked for the Greater Lansing Islamic Center as their Office Manager and later went on to serve as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Abraham Aiyash for State Senate during the 2018 mid-term elections. She is also an alum of the Muslim Power Building Project, a joint effort of Faith In Action, LA Voice, PICO federations, CAIR CA, the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), MPower Change, and MuslimARC among others.
Outside of CAIR, Hauwa enjoys being outdoors, hiking, traveling, anything YouTube, and has a love for animals!
