Sakina Ansari is a Community Canvasser for the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA). In this position she engages with community members about their civil rights and opportunities for civic engagement and assists in staffing voter registration booths at local mosques and other relevant events.
Sakina was born in India and moved to U.S in the year 2000. After completing high school, she went to college in New York and has since transferred to Western Governors University where she is completing her Bachelor of Science in Business IT Management.
She has served as Vice Chair for her University’s Student Association Council. In this position she was inspired to create a dialogue among community members around human rights and ways to foster respect and understanding between different ethnic and cultural groups. Sakina is passionate about helping marginalized populations.
In her spare time, she enjoys taking Islamic studies classes, crocheting, bicycling, cooking, and reading.
