The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) today condemns the alleged hate attack on an elderly Asian American man in San Francisco.

A video posted on Twitter shows the man trying to get his cans back and the aggressor using anti-Asian language and physical abuse towards him.

The video sparked much attention and has over 34,000 retweets on Twitter. San Francisco’s Mayor London Breed has shared that San Francisco Police Department is investigating this incident.

In a statement CAIR-SFBA’s Executive Director Zahra Billoo said:

“This is absolutely heartbreaking to watch, to see an elderly man disrespected and abused by the aggressors in this way. We condemn this attack and urge the SFPD to continue its investigation into the possible bias motive.”
