Dublin, Pleasanton, Santa Clara, and Santa Clara County will be presenting the Muslim community with proclamations to commemorate the California Assembly designation of August as American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month.
For the past seven years, Assemblymember Bill Quirk has introduced this resolution to recognize achievements and appreciation for the Muslim community.
The ceremonies take place during the first few minutes of each meeting:
- August 16, 9:30am – Santa Clara County (virtual) – https://bit.ly/sccamaam
- August 16, 7:00pm – Dublin – 100 Civic Plaza
- August 16, 7:00pm – Pleasanton – 200 Old Bernal Ave.
- August 16, 7:00pm – Santa Clara – 1500 Warburton Ave.
Sameena Usman, Senior Government Relations Coordinator at CAIR-SFBA, said in a statement:
“We should embrace the diversity of our communities and afford everyone the opportunity to better understand, recognize, and appreciate the rich history and shared principles of American Muslims. We are honored to be celebrating the efforts and achievements of Muslims through these proclamations.”
Earlier this month, the cities of Livermore, Milpitas, Oakland, and San Ramon recognized this designation by presenting the Muslim community proclamations.
