Dear Community Members and Friends,

Asalaamu Alaykum.

It is difficult to believe that Ramadan is passing us by so quickly. We are now approaching the middle of the month and hoping to capture as many blessings as possible.

As you plan your giving this Ramadan and ponder on whether you can give your zakat to CAIR, we want you to know, the answer is yes you can!

CAIR’s zakat eligibility is supported by several scholars, including Sheikh Ahmad Kutty and Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi. They agree that all of CAIR’s work is zakat-eligible because it collectively advances the services that are provided to the community, fi Sabilillah.

“I think it is not only permissible, rather it is also imperative that we do give our zakah to organizations like CAIR and CAIR-CAN, since they are fulfilling a most timely and essential service for the healthy survival of the community. Supporting such institutions clearly falls under the legitimate objectives of zakah as expounded by authentic scholars and jurists of Islam, both of the past and the present.” – Sheikh Ahmad Kutty

“As a dedicated organization to defend the rights of Muslims and to promote better understanding of Islam, CAIR is indeed eligible to receive part of the Zakat funds for its programs and services. We urge Muslims in America to support this organization through their donations, general charity, and through their Zakat. We pray that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala continues to guide its workers to carry on CAIR’s mission with sincerity, patience, and prudence.” – Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi

Donors may designate their zakat funds to be allocated towards a specific area of work (e.g., legal services, civic engagement, and youth empowerment). Where a donor does not restrict their zakat, CAIR-CA will allocate those funds to programs and services which directly help protect the rights of Muslims. You can read our complete Zakat policy on our website under the Ways to Give tab.

We urge you to join us as we work to defend our community’s rights and building collective power. Your tax-deductible, zakat-eligible contributions will further enable us to protect our brothers, sisters, leaders, and institutions.

We have called on your support time and time again and you have come through for us. We invite you to once again support CAIR-SFBA this Ramadan. We need to raise $150,000 to unlock a special $150,000 Challenge Grant offered by several of our long-time supporters.

Your zakat or sadaqa gift of $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $250, $100, or any amount, will support our ability to sustain and grow our work.

We have thousands of individuals who rely on our services and we are confident that with your support, we can rise to the challenge. We encourage you to give a portion of your zakat to CAIR-SFBA during this blessed month and make the most of the multiplicity of blessings.

In addition to donating via our website, you can also donate in any of these additional ways:

May Allah accept your good deeds throughout the remainder of this month. Jazaka’Allah khair.

Sincerely,

Zahra Billoo, Esq.
