December 17, 2019

2020 will be an important year. Census 2020 will bring federal funding to our schools, roads, housing, and impact our representation in Congress for the next decade. CAIR-SFBA is working to ensure that the Muslim community is fully counted. Some may face barriers to Census completion, so we are taking steps to ensure everyone has access to the assistance they need.

What is the Census? Every ten years, since 1790, the Census Bureau counts everyone living in the country, to collect basic information including: age, sex, and race, for every adult, child and baby in every household. Census 2020 will not ask about citizenship status or for information like a social security number. Starting March, everyone will be asked to complete the 2020 census online, by phone, or by mail. Questionnaire Assistance Centers will be located throughout the community, providing the public with access to computers and support in completing the Census. Responses are confidential, and strictly protected by law.

We are counting on you to be counted, and we will continue to provide you with Census 2020 information and updates.

Volunteer as Part of CAIR SFBA’s 2020 Team of Civic Engagement Champions!

Our first ever Civic Engagement Champions (CEC) volunteer group will play a crucial role in ensuring our community is informed about and engaged in the 2020 Census and Elections. Together, several dozen committed individuals will reach thousands of groups and individuals in their respective cities and regions.

With our community’s political voice at stake in a historic election year, this is a unique opportunity to serve your local community through being an ambassador of CAIR-SFBA
