The San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) today condemned the ongoing attack on the U.S. Capitol as an act of “violent insurrection” and called on the government to do more to protect those in harm’s way.
CAIR also encouraged both Republican and Democratic leaders to demand President Trump’s immediate resignation from office for inciting the violence and impeach him if he refuses to step down.

In a statement, CAIR-SFBA Executive Director Zahra Billoo said:
“Today’s attacks on the U.S. Capitol is outrageous and unacceptable. We condemn this violence from white supremacists and call on the government to protect the legislators and restore order. Trump and the legislators who encouraged this violent insurrection must be held responsible for their actions and we urge Congress to demand Trump to resign or face impeachment.”
