(ANAHEIM, CA, 1/30/17) – Today, the greater Los Angeles area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) hosted a press conference in partnership with the Southern California civil rights and interfaith communities, in response to the detention of Muslim travelers at airports across the country as a result of the Executive Order banning refugees and immigrants from Muslim majority countries.

Make no mistake, President Trump’s executive order banning refugees and visitors from Muslim majority countries is not only un-American and un-Constitutional, it is downright Islamophobic and a confirmation of proposed anti-Muslim policies made during the presidential election campaign, said CAIR-LA Exec. Director Hussam Ayloush. “And make no mistake – whatever language is used in this executive order – Muslims are the sole targets.”
Representatives from civil liberties groups shared heart-wrenching stories of individuals and families affected by the executive orders.
Interfaith leaders spoke in solidarity, stating that an attack on one group is an attack on all.
