She feared that she would be detained and sent to a camp where Muslim women were facing unspeakable human rights abuses. These fears were not unfounded: the Chinese government had taken her father and subjected him to serious abuse and torture. With CAIR's assistance, she was able to apply for asylum and remain in the United States without fear of harm and persecution. While she is now safe, the process to get the rest of her family to safety has just begun.
