Anaheim, CA – The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Greater Los Angeles Chapter’s (CAIR-LA) Immigrants’ Rights Center (IRC), March and Rally Los Angeles and other partner organizations are inviting members of the community to join an action from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 14 at MacArthur Park, located at 2230 W. 6th St., Los Angeles, CA 90057.

The action is to protest the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) cruel policy of forcibly separating children from their parents.

In just two weeks in May, DHS forcibly separated 658 children from their parents under its “zero tolerance” policy. The children – included infants and toddlers – were sent to remote detention centers to face deportation proceedings alone, while their parents were referred for criminal prosecution of their alleged unlawful entry or reentry into the United States.

“We are outraged by the DHS’s cruel and inhumane policy and we are proud to join with our partner organizations for this action,” said Farida Chehata, Immigrants’ Rights Managing Attorney for CAIR-LA’s IRC. “Forcibly separating children from their parents is abhorrent and tragic, given the detrimental impact on children’s health.”

Join us and our partners as we call for an end to the cruel practice of family separation and to inhumane detention conditions for all immigrants.
