Emergency Funds for Black Asylum Seekers

Xenophobic and anti-Black U.S. immigration policies have caused increased waves of migration at the U.S. Southern border. Once these migrants enter the U.S., Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are leaving them stranded in various cities across the U.S., with little to no support. Additionally,  conservative lawmakers are bussing asylum seekers to “sanctuary cities” in an attempt to punish Democrat-led cities for their support of migrants.

In this critical moment of crisis, local and state officials are perpetuating inhumane policies and practices that cause Black new migrants to experience discriminatory and dehumanizing treatment cruelly described as welcome. We cannot rely on a system that was not designed to take care of us to provide for our folks.  We must do what we can  to protect Black migrants and asylum seekers, especially those most vulnerable due to gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, and lack of language access.

BAJI and partners are inviting you to join us in supporting and welcoming newly arrived migrants with dignity and care. Your donation will be used to provide mutual aid support which will go toward immediate needs, such as personal and hygiene products, transportation support, and translation and interpretation services.
