CAIR-LA’s Immigrants’ Rights Center (IRC) participated in a Free Citizenship & Resource Fair on Saturday at Santa Ana College. Hundreds of people attended.

“We basically make sure they’re eligible to apply for citizenship,” CAIR-LA Immigrants’ Rights Center Advocate Yusra Khafagi said. “We provide them with legal advice and we provide them a fee waiver if they’re eligible, which basically means they don’t have to pay the $700 or so to apply for citizenship. And we give them materials so they can actually study for the citizenship exam.”

IRC Managing Attorney Farida Chehata, IRC Attorney Amina Fields, Civil Rights Attorney Patricia Shnell and IRC Intern Minh Pham also represented CAIR-LA.
The event was co-hosted by Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development, World Relief Southern California, New Americans Campaign and Public Law Center.
