(LOS ANGELES, CA – 12/6/2018) – The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today condemned racist graffiti found in a bathroom at Cal State Northridge on Wednesday that included Nazi swastikas, the N-word and the threat of a mass shooting.

According to a photo posted on Twitter, the threat of a mass shooting in Sierra Hall on Dec. 12 was scrawled in black ink in a bathroom stall. A Nazi swastika was scrawled under the message.

Other Twitter users posted video of anti-Semitic references, the N-word and another Nazi swastika scrawled in the bathroom.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the graffiti was removed by 11 p.m. In a statement, CSUN President Dianne F. Harrison said campus police was “vigorously” investigating the threat.
“At this time, there is no indication that the threat of a mass shooting is credible, and there is no indication of an imminent threat to campus. While we cannot share specifics in order to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, this matter has our utmost attention,” Harrison said.
In a tweet, the university condemned the hate language and threat: “Police are investigating this use of hateful language and symbols and threat against our community. … CSUN condemns this in the strongest possible terms.”

“We join the university and our community partners in condemning this display of racism and threat of mass violence. We urge university police to thoroughly investigate the credibility of the threat,” said CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush. “The current political climate has empowered bigots to turn their hate-filled thoughts into speech and even worse, into action. Institutions of higher learning should be a safe haven from hatred and violence.”
