While Veterans Struggle, We Give Israel $3.8 Billion A Year

(LOS ANGELES, CA – 4/15/2024) – The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today announced the launch of its newest billboard campaign for Gaza in Barstow, Calif.

The billboard, which reads “While veterans struggle, we give Israel $3.8 billion a year,” highlights the billions of American tax dollars that are used to fund Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza that has killed over 33,000 Palestinian civilians.

The new billboard is installed on the I-15 freeway in the Yermo/Barstow area facing north. It joins three previous campaigns by CAIR-LA installed in Norwalk, Calif. The campaigns aim to bring awareness of Israel’s horrific violence in Gaza to thousands across Southern California and illustrate the dire need for a permanent ceasefire and a halt on all U.S. military aid to Israel.

In a statement, CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said:

“These billboard campaigns are a unique opportunity to reach hundreds of thousands of people and show the unfiltered reality of what is happening in Gaza. With the community’s support, we hope to continue this campaign and fund future billboards that continue to bring attention to the genocide in Gaza and advocate for a permanent ceasefire.”

CAIR-LA is Southern California’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice and empower American Muslims.
