FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(ANAHEIM, CA – 05/24/2018) – The California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA) today published a 2018 “California Voter Guide” that offers resources to assist California Muslims as they prepare to vote in the June Primary election.

The guide includes CAIR-CA’s recommendations on the state’s five ballot propositions. As a non-profit organization, CAIR-CA cannot campaign for or against specific candidates for office, but is able to endorse ballot measures.

“The CAIR-CA Voter Guide is an educational tool to empower the state’s Muslim voters and allies in this critical election year,” said Omar Hassaine, CAIR-CA board chair. “It also communicates to our elected officials that their constituents are paying attention to their votes, which will in turn affect the way that we choose to vote.”

Copies of the guide will be available at CAIR-CA offices and online at: bit.ly/cairlavote

The voter guide is part of CAIR-CA’s voter empowerment and mobilization efforts. In addition to the distribution of the voter guide, CAIR-CA’s efforts include registering voters and hosting candidates’ forum at local mosques.

Nationwide, CAIR has launched many similar Muslim voter empowerment efforts in this election cycle.

CAIR-CA is a chapter of CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
